Located on the far north end of Avenida da Liberdade behind Praça Marquês de Pombal, Parque Eduardo VII is the largest green space in Lisbon’s city centre. The park was named after King Edward VII of England who, in 1903, opened it and its magnificent winter gardens (the Estufa Fria). The Anglo-Portuguese park is a great vantage point from which to see the city. The park contains a sports pavilion called Clube VII, with tennis courts, a gym, swimming pool and restaurant. The park is popular with joggers and dog walkers and it also hosts an annual book fair between May and June.
