Shopping in Lisbon |
Shopaholics beware, Lisbon has some serious shopping temptations. Whether you are here to pick up rare books or antiques, fine gold filigree jewellery, clothes or shoes, there is something for everyone. The Baixa district is a good place to start shopping, particularly if you’re looking for good quality shoes or jewellery. More upmarket boutiques and designer stores can be found on Rua Garrett in the Chiado or along the Avenida Liberdade. There are also many designer boutiques selling handmade, top quality leather shoes, gloves and bags on Avenida de Roma, Alvalade and Campo de Ourique. For more alternative and quirky shops head for Bairro Alto. The best picks are Agência 117 (Rua do Norte 117) which specialises in “skunk funk” fashion or check out Hold Me (Rua do Norte 33) which sells a large collection of bags and luggage items and accessories. If you want to experiment with some home-grown designers don’t miss local fashion icon Fatima Lopes’ home store (Rua da Atalaia 36). |
