Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara

You get fabulous views of the Castelo de São Jorge, Graça and the Igreja de São Vicente de Fora from this iconic miradouro, one of several vantage points specifically designed for maximum effect panoramic views. The upper level offers the best views and is very pleasant, while the small park just below has bronze busts from Greco-Roman mythology, such as Minerva and Ulysses. In the upper garden you’ll notice a tiled azulejo panorama that maps out the places and monuments of interest within your line of vision and helps to get you oriented. Just across the road you can sample over 400 different Port wines, including some of the rarer vintages dating back as far as 1837. The neighbouring area of upper Bairro Alto is also home to many good cafes and restaurants.
